
In 30 minutes, the bank account of Mr. Vo Tan Dinh opened at Sacombank was withdrawn 100 million when fraudsters made 35 money transfer transactions.
Mr. Vo Tan Dinh said that on the morning of February 18, he went to Sacombank’s transaction office in Bau Bang district (Binh Duong) to deposit VND 105 million into his account. After that, Mr. Dinh transferred VND 5 million and the remaining balance was over VND 100 million.
That evening, while in Thai Nguyen, Mr. Dinh continuously received messages of withdrawal notice from his account. In less than 30 minutes, crooks made 35 withdrawals from Mr. Sacombank’s account of VND 100 million.
Mr. Dinh said each photo of his card sent to others for them to transfer money. After that, the bank staff advised that this could lead to the risk of having your account information stolen, so on February 12, he went to the bank to exchange a new ATM card. Until February 18, when he was robbed of money, Mr. Dinh had not received a new card from the bank.
After the incident, Mr. Dinh said that he immediately informed Sacombank’s branch in Thai Nguyen. After returning to the locality, Mr. Dinh continued to report to Sacombank transaction office in Bau Bang and the police in Bau Bang district.
In the minutes of working between Mr. Dinh and the Sacombank Bau Bang transaction office provided by his character, the representative of Sacombank said that on February 11, Mr. Dinh had registered for Sacombank Pay service and received an authenticated OTP code from Sacombank. with a warning message.
The bank’s system recorded 35 withdrawals from Mr. Dinh’s account on February 18, made via Sacombank Pay, transferred to two accounts opened at Techcombank and ACB.
However, Mr. Dinh said that he did not use the Sacombank Pay application and had not downloaded it to the phone.
In his announcement, Sacombank affirmed that Mr. Dinh took steps when installing, authenticating and transacting on Sacombank Pay application in accordance with regulations. All customer transactions are stored on Sacombank system.
“Customers lose money in their accounts because they provided information to a third party to make a withdrawal from their accounts. Currently, Sacombank has instructed customers to report to the police and will coordinate in the investigation process, “stated Sacombank’s notice.
The bank notes that customers do not disclose information related to cards, electronic banking, financial applications as well as PINs, personal passwords, and OTP authentication codes to others.
When doing online transactions, cardholders should use anti-virus software on computers, phones; do not reply to strange emails, do not click on unclear links or request to enter personal information, card information, OTP authentication code, only shop and pay online at reputable and official websites. of trusted banks and online merchants, that have HTTPS security.
