Cashless transactions increased impressively

In the first 6 months of 2020, the total amount and total value of non-cash payment transactions via the NAPAS system increased by 138% and 140.5%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.

Accordingly, in June, NAPAS cooperated with 20 banks to implement a program to encourage customers to experience payment by domestic payment cards, especially the contactless payment feature.

At the same time, NAPAS, together with businesses such as Vietnam Airlines, Bamboo Airways, Lazada, FPT Telecom, implement programs to encourage customers to pay by domestic cards of banks.

In June alone, the total number of transactions increased by 134.8% and the total value of transactions increased by 140.6% over the same period of 2019.

“The aforementioned figures show that the transactions that the NAPAS system has processed have greatly shifted from cash withdrawal to payment transaction as well as electronic money transfer. This is very suitable. with the orientation of non-cash payment of the Government and the State Bank “- Mr. Hung said and further cited that in 2015 NAPAS system mainly handles ATM switching transactions (accounting for 90.4%), By 2019 the number of interbank fast money transfers accounts for 48% of the total number of transactions, while ATM transactions account for only 41.6%.

This is thanks to the unified compensation and financial payment infrastructure that has helped and promoted electronic transactions such as Internet banking, mobile banking, online payment of banks and central banks. payment time.

On the other hand, the above figures also clearly show the shift of customers’ habits from withdrawals via ATMs for daily spending in cash to non-cash payments via electronic banking channels.
