Chip-mounted citizen identification: Who must exchange?

As the previous information has given, the citizen’s identity will be changed to a new model with a chip in the near future. At that time, did all people have to change to this new card model?

Expected to issue citizen ID with chip in 11/2020
Recently, the Prime Minister has signed Decision No. 1368 / QD-TTg, which agreed with the policy of investment in production projects, granting and managing citizen identification chip; Total investment capital is nearly 2,700 billion VND.

This is an important legal premise for the early implementation of chip-mounted citizen identification in the near future.

Currently, citizenship identity has been issued in 16 provinces and cities across the country, but it is only a sample with barcode attached. Chip-attached Citizen Identification Form is said to have many advantages over barcode-based models, such as: Integrating more citizen information; Link with other information about health insurance, social insurance, driver’s license …

It is expected that the issuance of citizenship with chip will be deployed in November 2020 here.

Who needs to exchange for a Citizen Card with a chip?
This is the question of many people after having information about the citizen’s identity will have a new appearance is that the chip is attached.

According to the representative of the Ministry of Public Security, citizens who are using ID card or barcode citizenship with a valid date still may continue to use. When the expiry date is over, or when it is lost, damaged …, it will be changed to a citizen’s ID with chip.

The chip-mounted citizen’s identity remains the same as the barcode citizen’s ID. Therefore, when changing to a model with chip attached, transactions of citizens are still done normally without any fuss.

When starting to issue chip-mounted Citizen Identification Card, there will be 4 valid and valid forms of identification at the same time, including: 9-digit ID card, 12-digit ID card, Citizen ID barcode and chip-attached Citizen ID.
